Philip McCarty’s New Book ‘And God Said, ‘Let’s Babel’’ to be Featured at AARP’s Spring 2013 Life@50+ Event in Las Vegas

COLUMBIA, Mo. (PRWEB) January 22, 2013

In his new book “And God Said, “Let’s Babel”: The Bible as Cross-Cultural Communication” (published by iUniverse), which will be featured at AARP’s Spring 2013 Life@50+ event in Las Vegas, author and religious scholar Philip McCarty pulls as much from his expertise as from his faith in God’s love to present his ideas on the Bible.

“And God Said, “Let’s Babel”” begins by examining evidence supporting McCarty’s claim that the Bible is a cross-cultural book. He then uses what he calls the “rules of communication” to show how the Bible communicates cross-culturally. Finally, McCarty ties in all of his ideas, bringing them together to make them practical for readers.

McCarty is a religious/Bible scholar, having studied extensively and earning advanced degrees in multiple subjects pertaining to religion, Christianity and the Bible. But, according to him, his book takes religious studies toward new discoveries and ideas.

“It struck me that the Bible really is a multicultural book, and is designed to speak cross-culturally,” he says about his studies and his inspiration for “And God Said, “Let’s Babel”” “This is something that I had not heard stressed in other classes, or made prominent as I read other books. The more I researched the topic, the more the book came into being.”

Studying the Bible with his idea of a cross-cultural message as a lens, McCarty has crafted an intriguing, academic argument. But his book also has an inspirational purpose. “I want readers to understand that God cares about them in the culture in which they live,” he says. “God did not simply speak to one nation, several thousand years ago. God is speaking today, to all nations and cultures, directly to individuals who are important to God.”
