Author Pierre Hegy Updates His Proposal for Catholic Church Renewal

Glen Cove, NY (PRWEB) January 29, 2013

An accomplished scholar with 40 years of experience teaching and researching in the field of religious studies, Pierre Hegy has been a respected contributor to academic circles which focus on religion’s role in society. In his new book, “Wake Up, Lazarus!: On Catholic Renewal” (published by iUniverse), Hegy coalesces his experience and research into a system to help bring about change in the Catholic Church, which he feels is on a worldwide decline that cannot be ignored.

Although Hegy acknowledges the many good books written on the issues and problems facing the Catholic Church today, he feels that they often take one side of an argument and create contention and disagreement. “I wanted to bypass the liberal-conservative dilemma and promote renewal from within and from below, rather than reform from above,” he says. “Many people are tired of the liberal-conservative civil war, and want feasible proposals – which I suggest.”

Hegy feels strongly that the Catholic Church needs to embrace progress because of the important role religion plays in the world. As he points out, religion often shapes the overall culture of the world, contributing heavily to fields such as education. He hopes his metaphor of renewal helps people usher in a bright future for the Church.

“The book should be experienced as an intellectual wake up call,” says Hegy. “There are no recipes for renewal; what is needed is dreaming dreams.”

“Wake Up, Lazarus!” has been selected for inclusion in the iUniverse Star program, which recognizes excellence in writing and commercial success.
