Lual A. Deng Presents Analysis of the Visionary Tactics and Ideas of Sudanese Leader

FAIRFAX, Va. (PRWEB) January 30, 2013

In 1983, when John Garang defected to form the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA), few could have imagined the effects he would later be responsible for in the government of the Sudan. Author Lual A. Deng is one of those few, and in his new book “The Power of Creative Reasoning: The Ideas and Vision of John Garang” (published by iUniverse) he explores the methods and beliefs of the late iconic leader.

Deng’s purpose in writing was to show “… how complex problems could be resolved through creative reasoning by a visionary leader with a sense of history and purpose to serve his people.” He goes on to describe how Garang used a combination of creative reasoning and path-goal strategy in resolving the Sudanese crisis of state and identity.

An excerpt from “The Power of Creative Reasoning”:
“It took four solid decades of strategic thinking, hard work, consistency, creative reasoning, and tactical maneuvering by a visionary leadership for Southerners to achieve the right to secede embedded in the vision of New Sudan articulated in the above quotation. The quotation gives, beyond doubt, the necessary (incorporating the right of self-determination in the constitution of Sudan) and sufficient (having a separate army within the union) conditions for Southern Sudanese to achieve their independence.”

Deng knows that his work will apply to societies outside of Sudan. “Creative reasoning is one of the key characteristics of democratic governance,” he says, “which depends on social harmony, stability and peaceful environment for today’s society prosperity, economic and social wellbeing.”
